Graduate's Profile
Degree Program in Education Sciences
In order to achieve their objective upon completion of their studies, graduates of the education sciences program will incorporate the attributes which are innate and define to their vocation, plus some other attributes acquired on their passage through the classrooms (knowledge, abilities, and attitudes) which together will define their capacity to carry out the activities proper to their profession. This knowledge abilities and attitudes will allow graduates to acquire:
Knowledge:
- Of the facts, events and historical processes, universal and national which have had repercussions on educational practices.
- Of the different pedagogical theories which have been formulated to explain the educational phenomenon.
- Of the epistemological foundations behind the scientific character of the discipline.
- Of the foundations and principals behind the philosophical character of education.
- Of the different approaches, paradigms and methodological resources of educational research.
- Of the various theories and approaches of educational orientation, vocational and family orientation which allow for an integral educational tutoring.
- Of didactics to analyze educational practices in the classroom and and make proposals tending to elevate the level of teaching-learning, as well as designing academic programs that satisfy the educational demand, the expectations of the labor force and the objectives of education at all levels.
- Of sociological and philosophical theory in order to analyze the relationship between man and environment and propose educational models based on the diagnosis of the socioeconomic and political context.
- Of the prospective planning which will help them to foresee future educational situations in order to create, apply and evaluate strategies in the present time.
- Of management techniques in order to apply them to the planning, organizing, evaluation and control of projects which are developed in the educational sphere at various levels .
Abilities:
- To construct concepts, proposals, models and theories which describe and explain educational processes and practices.
- To analyze and apply the theoretical-methodological approaches developed in regards to education .
- To handle different types of groups, according to the nature and characteristics presented by each one of them.
- To design and apply learning strategies.
- To raise pedagogical research problems with rigor and clarity.
- To correctly analyze and interpret research data.
- To comprehensively analyze the teaching-learning process in specific educational contexts.
- To interact with specialists of various disciplines and build and adapt teaching strategies and methodologies.
- To solve methodological, technical and operational problems in the development of planning processes and educational evaluation .
- To develop models of management and administration at educational institutions .
- To advise teachers and principals on curricular instrumentation .
- To analyze and follow up on teaching practice, as well as detecting psychopedagogical problems.
- The handling of didactic techniques methods and procedures at every level.
- Creativity and initiative, proposing original solutions to the educational problems they face
- To interact and and transmit their knowledge.
- Adaptability in the face of new opportunity areas.
- Capacity to interact and assume leadership in a group, orientating the group's dynamic toward the strengthening of cohesion and the achievement of the proposed objectives .

- To advise teachers and principals on curricular instrumentation .
- To design educational vocational and professional orientation programs which diminish student desertion, favoring the choice of a degree program according to their aptitudes and professional vocation, as well as supporting them in the acquisition of new learning techniques .
- To design administrative systems tending to elevate coverage and quality of administration of educational services .
- To plan and direct educational projects geared toward contributing to the solving of problems in education, at both public and private institutions.
- To identify and evaluate educational perspectives at public and private higher learning institutions, in the face of the level of professional competence which is demanded of the graduates by the labor market as a result of the prevailing scientific and technological revolution.
- To direct the operation of public and private educational institutions at the levels of basic, middle, upper middle, and higher education.
- To apply and interpret techniques and psychometric tests which allow them to construct and apply instruments for measuring which are objective reliable and valid.
- To apply the theoretical-methodological tools of educational research which allow them to investigate and generate knowledge with scientific rigor.
- Of didactics, in order to construct and lead sessions with a high level of effectiveness in the handling of learning groups and of work leading to decision taking.
Attitudes:
- Analytical reflexive in the face of conflict situations they face before issuing an opinion on the facts presented to them.
- Professional commitment which identifies with the organizational objectives and offers its best effort towards their achievement.
- Of respect and observance towards the ethical canons, applying professional ethics is the norm which regulates the performance of graduates of the institution and make them prevail over any circumstances .
- Of permanent learning emphasizing the importance of actualization and incorporation into their professional performance of the knowledge published in recent books and articles .
- Maintain an attitude of collaboration, commitment and respect in interdisciplinary work.
- Creativity in the elaboration and utilization of the different learning tools and media.
- Responsibility before themselves, their educational work, and society.
- Responsibility toward social problems and the necessity to improve the well being of the population in an atmosphere of justice and democracy .
